Dave Gau has been drawing cartoons ever since he first got a notebook to doodle in. He spent countless hours early in life trying to copy Snoopy from his "Mad Punter Strikes Again" book, and published his first book in third grade (okay, it was stapled together typing paper and a one-of-a-kind special edition, but nonetheless his first book.) In high school, he drew a terrible rip-off of then-fresh Garfield for the school paper, as well as a superhero full-page comic of epic proportions. |

The REAL history starts in college at Rochester Institute of Technology, where his strip "The Brick Life" sold out compilation books in the school bookstore (no staples this time.) After college, intent on being the next syndicated success story, Dave submitted "Floyd of Earth" to the syndicates, getting his first major collection of rejection notices. After that, he created "Mulberry Place", a strip set in an apartment building of the Fan district in hometown Richmond, Virginia. The syndicates again had a good laugh (at it, not because of it). However it did get picked up by the Richmond-Times Dispatch and ran for a good year before it's untimely demise in the name of research polls. Then came "Galapagos". Dave's most recent attempt again made the round of the syndicates, with only slightly better results. The now-defunct Future Features Syndicate represented Galapagos for a while, but alas to no avail. So now it remains here for all to enjoy while Dave continues with the other parts of his life: His family, his home-based animation business, and performing improv comedy with the national troupe ComedySportz. More ideas are floating around in his head for future developments, but for now just sit back, relax, and enjoy "Galapagos"! |
